A Little Party

Eek, I never thought I'd do a Lynn-like teeny-tiny figures "longshot" frame.  But I wanted to get everyone in--and there you go.  Another homage!

Well, this is nice; it's good to see that Elly's bullshit has started to make Mike and the others grateful for the people around them. Perhaps they can take a page from Lawrence's playbook and leave the past behind them. Also perhaps we can find out John's part in all of this.

Unlike the Lynn tiny figures long shot, your characters actually line up in relative height. That's something I am not sure Lynn ever achieved in all her years of cartooning. I think this may also be the only time all these particular characters were ever in the same panel together.

That would be best--a nice trend to start. :)

Well, you know John. Still waters that run shallow, less to him than meets the eye, and all that.... :-P

That's something that I know that she never achieved; she always managed to get that wrong.

This is another thing Lynn never really did; she came closest in the Sunday strip in which Robin thoght that Elly was about to turn into Mr Creosote but, as you can see, they never quite shared a panel.

Heh. I am gratified that you noticed that--I took pains to do this. :)

Hm, now that you mention it, I suspect you're right. It almost seems as though some introductions are in order.

April_Patterson,

I get it; he passively let all this happen because he expected Elly to lose interest again and damn the damage to other people.

Awwww. :) I'm happy to see all of them together and I hope the younger generations can keep on being close and become an actual family.

Oops. I found one in the first panel of this strip. Oh well. I guess FOOBAR is just the second time the characters have all appeared together. Certainly I can say it is the first time that they have talked to each other.

Thanks, kam--I like this idea, too. :)

Hee. At least I still get a distinction of some sort. :)

Or, more to the point, he just went along with it. No real opinion either way. It'd be nice if she actually succeeded in her efforts (a new start, probably jump in a different direction with a different dame), but if things turned out the way they did at least he'd be back where he was.

I think this is more or less the feeling I have about John. Go with the flow--not really putting a whole lot of thought in, one way or another.
