It's sort of obvious that Elly has no idea that John has picked up on her biases; I should think that if he called her on it, she'd thought-bubble "HATE!!!"

LOL - even though "skank-ho" as a "popular slang phrase" technically post-dates the 80's of the original story (current) re-runs by around 15-20 years (though maybe it fits the phony-80's-with-selected-anachronisms-like TV-remotes-and-word-processors that Lynn claims her characters to currently be living in.)

I'm planning on some follow-up/aftermath to this. :)

Yup. Plus in Foobar continuity, all of the characters leapt back from 1981, so their brains still can retain latter-day slang. :)

Considering Lynn's tendency to favor the more British side of Canada and the Brits are known for their "tea time", it makes me wonder what Lynn was really thinking back in 1981, when she made her tea distinction. Maybe she was really fond of Upstairs, Downstairs, and was thinking Connie's time with Phil was like that.

Makes me wonder what she was putting in the tea to affect the friend.

Or maybe she was making a mental connection to the original inspiration for Connie, her art teacher Constance Wainwright. In her 10-year anniversary collection, Lynn writes that Mrs. Wainwright spoke with a "veddy propah British accent out the side of her mouth."

I have a horrible image of Elly putting the old coffee grounds into some little cotton bags and calling it "tea bags" because it looks right and saves money.

Not only that, but she might reason that skank-hos can't be choosers. ;)
