One moment, the foobs were in a teal-and-lavender monstrosity of a wedding, and the next they were propelled back into the past. But it was a different version of the past. What happened?
Well, this answers part of my question about Elly's peers knowing what's happened. The only remaining one is "What does John know and what's HE going to do about it?"
"What does John know and what's HE going to do about it?"
Well FOOBar John has been getting it on with FOOBar Connie, so probably he knows. However, that would affect FOOBar John's motivation, as to whether or not he would want to change things back.
Is FOOBar John going to see FOOBar Phil as competition for Connie or an ally against Elly?
Poor Lawrence. Maybe, since he, Mike and the adults all know that they've been sent back in time, he'll be able to fake the accident and get the paramedics to play along.

Previous strips established that Lawrence strongly suspected Connie knew all along about Elly's time-games, and that she was merely pretending to not know because this time she was hoping he wouldn't grow up gay.
That said, finding out his mom also wants him to endure physical agony has gotta be a real bitch.
I don't think it's that Connie wants Lawrence to break his legs, it's that she's resigned to it.
Maybe part of Lawrence's opened mouth is that he now knows that Connie knows. The question is, what side is Connie on? After all, knowing what you're going through means you'll be able to enjoy it better if you have SOME ability to do stuff differently...and if she's still doin' John, she's obviously enjoying her trip back in time.
I actually scripted a couple of weeks' worth of strips where Lawrence and Connie discuss all this, but I decided that was too much infodump and generally too much all at once... I want to develop this but still respond to whatever is going on in the strip, so I'll need to go bit more slowly. :)

I am still thinking through John's trajectory.

Hmmmm. :)

Aww! poor Lawrence! I see interesting possibilities brewing here like everyone else has mentioned! :)
Lawrence's expression in the last panel is priceless. Finally, an appropriate use of the 'Gobsmacked!' expression!
