The next day, at the dental office...

He tried to make him??? I'm not surprised that Jean is still closing her eyes and looking smug; not only is her boss a freak, he's a freak with a love of bad wordplay and dental busywork. Too bad that Elly isn't going to believe her when she implies that John is a closet case, though.

This whole sub-arc has seemed to be about Ted trying to "make" John cheat on Elly and pretend he's single. It seemed likely he'd whine to Jean to that effect....

In retrospect, it seems likely that Jean doesn't believe John in the least; she is, after all, the same woman who was convinced that Fiona Brass was his mistress. I'd bet money that if she ever found out the truth, she'd get defensive and harrumph about it being her duty to be as ignorant and judgmental as one of the idiots from Three's Company.

LOL--that whole "misunderstanding" brand of so-called humor has always bugged the heck outof me.

"skeevy"? From the Italian word "schifoso". That doesn't sound like British slang to me. "Grotty", "rank", maybe? I like the labels for Jean Baker's work material. Very funny. You definitely get to the heart of the modern, no-longer-an-assistant Jean.

Heh--thanks. When I was putting that stuff in, I was thinking, "howtheduck will enjoy this." :)

Jean -> she shoots, she scores! XD

"Foobar" is actually (and delightfully!) funny (unlike the current "ever-changing canon" Foob and its lame forced puns!) Please, keep it up! :D

I am very curious to see how this SF/Fantasy/Elly-changing-Time plot turns out, as well...

Thanks, karisu-sama! I'm figuring out the SF plot as I go; some parts I had in mind all along, but others are inspired by what's going on in Foob (like LJ handing us a dental hygienist who looks like April). Of course, I'll have to ignore the fact that today's Foob shows the babysitter and has her looking like Lily Petrucco.
