Oh, dear. April's learned that it might actually be too late to repair all the damage Elly did to the timestream. This is a monkeywrench is her plans to get that vain crackpot to see reason and admit that she had things pretty damned soft after all.
Elly's world is a scary place to be. So's her psyche, I expect.
You're probably right; that much misdirected angst and entitlement is sort of terrifying to contemplate.

I still think it's not just Mom. Mira doesn't want Deena to be with Mike, and Connie still doesn't escape my suspicions.
Another Thought: What if John already knows it's April, and is already in on her plan?
Though even if Elly did cause the big time warp, there can still be characters who have their own ulterior motives when it comes to being opportunistic about maybe changing history.
