The idea for this came to me from howtheduck's discussion about the story Lynn was telling vs. the one she thought she was telling. I thought of Elly trying her hand at comicking.

I hate that couch!

Why do I hate that couch? The stripes are a pain in the butt to draw. I'm kind of surprised Lynn didn't have Elly sell it during the first year of the strip. I'm tempted to have Michael set fire to it so the Pattersons can replace it with a nice, solid white one.

Anyway, this is what I imagine John would bring home from a dental convention.

Before leaving for the convention John, in a new-run strip, listed checking out "new products and new inventions" among the things he was looking forward to doing at the convention he was going to be attending. Credit goes to forworse (here) and howtheduck (here) for inspiring today's strip. Oh, and there's also an eighties-music reference in there. :)

Reverie

Repurposing, just like the pros do!

Inspired by Lynn's re-rerunning a reprint yesterday (originally refoobed July 1, 2008, during the failed "hybrid" experiment), I am recycling the art from a FOOBAR I posted this past November. Only, unlike Lynn, I've given my reFOOBAR new text. Postmodern!

Wow, I'm so blessed to be able to learn from the professional cartoonists! Thanks, Lynn, this is going to save me sooooooooo much time! Maybe I'll schedule some vacations in Mexico France.

Edit: As dlauthor pointed out in the comments, I mistakenly had Lizzie refer to "Dot" instead of "Trixie" as the sunbeam-obsessed baby in "Hi and Lois." I've fixed the error in the strip. Just like Lynn with "Crows" vs. "Cranes" in the "wedding" arc last August! Only the Cranes were her own characters, so I don't feel quite so bad....
