Gaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!! What an idiot Elly is; I just know that whatever ending you have in mind will have her not realizing why people are angry. I should think that tomorrow's strip will be all about her not getting how she's violated any number of graves for her own selfish purposes.
It brings her into a whole special category of dangerousness, doesn't it?
I know; it would have made more sense for her to be the Dragon in DC Comics' not-zombie-fest "Blackest Night"; she's a lot scarier than the loutish necrophiliac that they did have. Also, the only way she could ever learn compassion would be to have it forced on her by space hippies with indigo rings.
I think you have a good analogy for Elly = Lynn here. Lynn's motivations for the new-runs were all self-motivated (i.e. money for new material while still getting vacation time) and yet she has forced her longtime fans through the unpleasant experience of regularly trying to figure out things like what year it is. She is very much like FOOBAR's Elly in this respect.
Watch for Elly to claim next that she had everyone's best interests in mind, despite that being obvious horsehockey. She's never let reality get in the way of feeling unappreciated and persecuted, after all.

Of course she'll claim that very thing. It is NOT going to occur to her that her victims have seen right through her so she can talk twonk like that in perfect confidence.

Along those same lines, Lynn spoke about her desire to fix things she didn't like about the old strips/story arcs--without considering (a) what effect those changes would have on existing continuity (b) how long-time readers would receive those changes.
She's never let reality get in the way of feeling unappreciated and persecuted, after all.
So true--reality doesn't even slow her down, let alone stop her.
