One moment, the foobs were in a teal-and-lavender monstrosity of a wedding, and the next they were propelled back into the past. But it was a different version of the past. What happened?
Well, you've got Elly down solid. She can't be troubled to care about Mike's feelings because she's may more important than some goofy kid who hasn't gone to University.
Hah! My mom actually used to do this -- without the whining or complaining about how mean her kid was to make her sick, of course. She'd call a sister, or friend, or her own mom, and ask for help for when she'd inevitably get sick.
Unfortunately, I can't really see Elly doing it. Being pro-active about an anticipated problem, and asking for help when you need it, is the work of a sane person who doesn't actually want to be a martyr.
Eee, good point, clio-1--I've made Elly far too sane. We know it's just her M.O. to suffer in martyrly silence while shooting her resentment rays at John.
It just goes to show that you've got a better sense of comic timing and what would make an interesting character than Lynn. That last panel really is very funny.

I figured this is what she's thinking. :)

Thanks, clio-1, I needed some reassurance. :)
I agree with clio, Elly can't ask for help- it would be admitting that she doesn't know everything and also reduce her martyr quotient.
Besides, no way she can bear the thought of anyone else getting credit for helping the family.
