One moment, the foobs were in a teal-and-lavender monstrosity of a wedding, and the next they were propelled back into the past. But it was a different version of the past. What happened?

A little bit louder and a little bit worse

Mike changed the lyrics a bit--from "Nellie" to "Elly." Wouldn't you? I gave up figuring out how the interior of the car should be constructed in the last panel, since it was so messed up in my source material.
Why can't it kick John in the belly, Elly? First off, it doesn't rhyme and second, he's not the selfish whiny baby who screwed everyone over because of his insatiable need to have everything go his way.

Nonetheless, Elly will probably find an excuse to kick John in the belly... Or thereabouts. ;)
Very good use of song and as usual, more realistic than the source material.
Thanks--when I learned that song at camp, I thought it was the greatest thing. I can just imagine Mike getting louder and louder (and worse and worse) with each verse. :)
Question: Does Elly thinking in some corner of her mind that Mike knows (or has a hint) about her machinations? Even if she thinks he doesn't know anything?
Hehe! I love it! "Nellie" is close enough to "Elly" that Elly may be only thinking that she's hearing things when Mike actually means "Elly". He's really skirting the edge there though, perhaps Nizzie needs to tell him to reign it in a bit?
Also, don't worry about the layout...yours is way better. For one, the car in the second panel isn't warped like a piece of wood plank left outside in the rain for six months.

Hmm. I haven't really thought this through godozo. In a way, I think maybe she's too self-absorbed to give it much thought. But maybe it's nibbling at the edges of her consciousness, as you suggest. I'll have to think about this some more.

I kind of think that Mike is obnoxious enough that he'd substitute "Elly" for "Nellie" even without having any awareness of the time travel. And since Elly is pre-disposed to believe that her children exist to torment her, I wouldn't put it past her to think that he's just trying to aggravate her. ;)

I sort of gathered that he would be the proud recipient of a kick between the uprights Friday.
Far, far better than EvilJohn's yammering away, just so Lynn can prove that husbands are oblivious dolts while wives are long-suffering martyrs.

That'd be my thought, at some point.

Not exactly, though that would be richly deserved.... ;)

Thanks, Anonymous. :)
