One moment, the foobs were in a teal-and-lavender monstrosity of a wedding, and the next they were propelled back into the past. But it was a different version of the past. What happened?
This is yet another demonstration of Elly's complete lack of awareness of how other people see her. Being made aware of how awful this makes her look, however, will do no good because of her inability to learn from experience.
There you go. I remember in the 1980 CBC interview when Lynn Johnston was living in Lynn Lake. She made the comment about how people there called her the crazy dentist's wife and how they would stop talking around her for fear she would use their conversation for one of her comic strips. I imagine your Connie's reaction is probably not too far from a reaction from someone in Lynn Lake at the time. "She's using that comic strip as a marriage therapist. Poor Rod. He should have married a nice girl from here in Lynn Lake."

I remember that myself; I also remember the confusion and anger behind that comment. In her mind, it was really unfair of them to resent having private conversations amplified and distorted by a neutral observer who should never have been confused with a vindictive, touchy interloper with an axe to grind.

Nope, she just becomes increasingly convinced that no one else knows what they are talking about. BTW, this conversation between Elly and Connie will continue in Friday's Foobar. :)
Evidently her magic's working, in part. She's getting her comics published, whatever their level of crappetude.
Well, keep in mind that this is The Milborough Koopon Klipper, something that appears for free only in Milborough supermarkers. I'm thinking they don't pay her anything and only run the strip when they have unsold space. ;)

That sounds about right. 0_o
No wonder Elly has never been able to sustain more than two friendships at a time.
Was it The dentist's crazy wife or the crazy dentist's wife?
No wonder Elly has never been able to sustain more than two friendships at a time.
And that becomes such a strain to her that she pretty much ends up dumping Anne or at least demoting her to casual friend or acquaintance.
Was it The dentist's crazy wife or the crazy dentist's wife?
Maybe it ought to have been "the crazy dentist's crazy wife"?
