I suppose her speech problems are a direct consequence of whatever spell Elly ineptly used. Since she wants Liz to be dependent on her forfrakkingever, our hero simply cannot grow without having said growth being retracted minutes later.

Yup--definitely Elly's doing. This gives her the dual satisfaction of being neeeeeeded and having something to martyr herself about.

Thought so. (By the way, is John ever going to be aware of his surroundings or is he just going to be stoooooooopid forever?)

(By the way, is John ever going to be aware of his surroundings or is he just going to be stoooooooopid forever?)I haven't decided whether he's altogether oblivious or whether he's going with the flow (either for his own reasons or out of apathy). But if it's the former, I think he'll get there eventually. ;)

John? His wife is suddenly hot again and has shown some signs of affection to him. After years of celibacy that has to be a good thing. Of course, he practically threw himself at Ted McCaulay, so maybe it's not so good a thing.

As for today's strip the silent penultimate panel was perfect.

I couldn't help thinking that Elizabeth would be well served by making a habit of screaming "NO!" at her mother.

I love the direction you took with FOOBAR.

Liz never learned to express herself the first time around, so I don't have much hope for her now.
