Today's entry title comes from my son (age seven). We had the following conversation:
"Why does Elly Patterson have 'hate' in her comic strip?"
"It's a running joke. Emmy keeps not liking the way the conversation goes."
"Elly Patterson likes hate! Elly Patterson likes 'hate' in her final panels!"

Well, when he's right, he's right! Elly does like hate. Hate is what Elly is all about.
After years of exposure, it's good to know your son understands For Better or For Worse.

Sometimes kids have a way of getting right to the heart of things. ;)

He has managed to pick up on some essential truths. Another observation he's made is that Elly often yells "AUGH!" :)
Argh!!! This strip (Lynn's strip, not yours) really bothered me, and the comments at GoComics even more.
I know no one who does this kind of passive aggressive "I say yes but I really mean no, and I will sulk at home until you get back" kind of crap anymore. Gah.
Thanks for going after this one!

My pleasure. :)
What were they saying at GoComics? (I'm afraid to look.)
Ugh, just too many people took the whole "Women never say what they mean and expect you to be a mind reader" at face value. There were some detractors I think. Mine was the last comment because no one was reading anymore. They had gone on to the next day.
Honestly, if I knew someone like that, they wouldn't be my friend or significant other. I would actually be helping them out the door with my foot.
