One moment, the foobs were in a teal-and-lavender monstrosity of a wedding, and the next they were propelled back into the past. But it was a different version of the past. What happened?

"My name is Ted McCauley, I'm just a normal guy"
I swear, I planned this one out before I saw at Foobiverse that others were making a "Norman Bates" connection with Ted McCauley.
I was thinking more along the lines of his being Principal Skinner with a better car but, as we know, the character from the Simpsons is Bates-as-a-joke. The only person I can think of with a worse social life sold his marriage to the Cartoon Devil two years ago so he could be a failure living off his Aunt May.
I think you're making a reference to Spiderman? I only began checking in on the strip after their reset, so I wasn't sure where Peter Parker was in his life before then. Had he married?
In the comics, he'd married Mary Jane in the late eighties and had a reasonably happy life up until about two years ago. What had happened is that Iron Man had convinced him to reveal his identity to the media as part of his campaign to have all superhumans registered with the Fed. After Spidey had a falling-out with Stark and became a fugitive, Aunt May was shot by a htman working for Kingpin. Rrather than face life without her, he and Mary Jane made a deal with Satan-wannabe Mephisto that would restore Aunt May; the price was that their marriage never happened. The reason for all this was that the guy they have running Marvel now can't stand the fact that the Marvel Universe changed since 1985. Now that he's running things, he's made sure that all of Spidey's character developemnt goes out the window. In the newspaper strip, on the other hand, Quesada simply pulled a Foobar and set the clock back ten years so that Peter and MJ are simply dating.
Thanks for explaining all that, dc2--I was wondering what the deal was. I only added Spidey to my Chron page because my son recently became a fan and was excited about being able to read a daily strip about him. :)
