Probably a guarantee that we have Anne-and-Elly new-runs.

This strip is meant to follow up on the one that originally ran on January 28, 1981.  Yesterday's reprint originally ran on January 27, 1981.  So I suppose I am virtually guaranteeing that we will actually get new-run filler that continues Elly and Anne's coffee talk.  ::sigh::

In the likely event that this happens, you can find the strip I was referencing by doing a punchline search at the official foob site's search catalog, using the phrase spitballs in the dictionary.

Oh, and I know I'm having Lawrence dwell on the broken-leg thing.  He really doesn't want to break it again.

Actually, we did get the 'spitball' thing; it's also too bad that Lawrence will have to deal with his leg getting broke. Ah, well; at least when this is over, he'll have something else to hold over that imbecile Elly.

I don't think I have heard this phrase before.

One might picture townspeople with torches and pitchforks. ;)

Urban Dictionary (with its charming misspellings) to the rescue. ;)

Lawrence is now using urban slang. I guess that trip back to the past has affected him more than he knows.

Such is the nature of time travel--you never know how it will affect any given person. ;)

One thing I take issue with, in the definition at Urban Dictionary--I tend to hear it with the emphasis on "who" rather than on "you"; "WHO you tellin'?" As in, "I, of all people, know this."

I love how well you've captured Mike's evil glare from the original.
