Hope this was worth the wait....

Here it is!  I hand-lettered to save a step and get this up faster.  Hope it's reasonably readable.  In the last panel, I know I should have done a Lynn-style longshot to get both Lawrence and April all the way into the frame, but for some reason, I was amused by the idea of only being able to see the top of Lawrence's head.

So, yeah--extended-play format with lots of extra exposition.  :)

Yay -- a much better posting time, IMHO, since I'm finished work and back home in time to see it, otherwise I just get a big red X where the picture should be because the company firewall doesn't think this is an appropriate site, even at lunchtime. Which, of course, is the only time I surf.

Strip-wise, excellent to see things coming together, and it's nice to hear that Connie misses Greg. He was such a non-entity in the real strip, known only for being Connie's husband, father of her step-daughters, and a golfer. If he were really that bad, Connie would be making far more of the opportunity to change her future.

Ah, I'm glad something good came out of my delay. :)

Thanks...

ITA--it seems as though LJ just didn't really want to bother developing him as a character. The major way to differentiate him from the other non-descript neighbour-husband, Steve Nichols--is that he didn't cheat, as far as we know. (If Lynn were to continue her new-runs for another 30 years, I wouldn't be surprised if she had that change, though. Men are cheating cheaters who cheat, y'know. ;) )

It's good to know that most people are not fond of being trapped in Elly's Timey Wimey Ball of Entitlement and Malice. Lawrence and Mike might not like having to stay "in character" but they'd probably take comfort in knowing that they won't have to do so for much longer. About that only X-factor left that I can think of is John.

It's good to see that you are setting the wheels in motion for the resolution of the main plot of FOOBAR. I am curious as to how you plan to conclude this storyline.

As for Greg, one of the things I really like about the Comic Strip Catalog is the way you can look at most of the strip involving obscure characters like Greg. There were 2 things I found very interesting about him doing a Greg Search.

One was the way Elly threw herself at Greg on his first appearance. Connie tried to play it as Elly being emotional, but I can't think of anyone that Elly hugged like that on first meeting.

The other thing was that Lawrence's interest in gardening came from Greg as you can see in this strip and this strip.

Hey -- I just checked out this site. It is very engaging; almost addictive. Thanks for visiting Pointless Planet. Drop me a line at editor@pointlessplanet.com and say hello.

Yeah, there's that whole not liking to be screwed with that kicks in.

If only they knew... but they will before too long. :)

I haven't settled on John's exact path yet, but it should be amusing. :)

Yes, I'm looking forward to wrapping up--my dread is that Lynn could change her mind again and postpone her straight-reprints plan.

Ha--true.

Curiously, I also stumbled across the first of the two strips you linked re. Greg, Lawrence, and landscaping. It seems to be a trait Lynn either forgot he had or decided she didn't are about anymore in the latter years.

I've just seen your previous entry explaining the delay -- sorry to hear about the cold. It's that time of year, isn't it? Hope it clears up soon.

Thanks--I enjoy your dissection and mockery of commercials. :)

forworse and Robert: I'm feeling much better, thanks. This time of year is especially tough with a school-aged child in the house. They keep passing the bugs back and forth.

I like that you have one of the main characters go along with the return to the past, only to realize what a mistake it was. And that other characters are also having second thoughts about this.

Thanks--I know it's not unusual for people to imagine that they'd like to go back to their younger days. But I think most of us conclude we'd rather stay where we are.

Wow, Greg TOTALLY changed appearance in the later strips, right down to the nose job, hair loss, chin loss, and punch growth.
