Here we go....

....Of course, in the original run, Lynn never actually showed the mystery door-answering "girl" in the strips.

Oh, dear; this is a problem. It's been so long since this has happened, she's forgotten what the girl looked like.

It's more a meta-reference to Lynn never having shown her in the strip. I figure if she knows where to go, no problem. What I find more disturbing is that Lynn changed his house number (from 271 to 114).

Could it have been a date with special romantic significance -- 27 January changed to 11 April? -- or just another continuity mishap? Hum!!

Thanks. :)

I like your "date" theory, but given Lynn's oft-demonstrated inattention to detail, I suspect the latter.

My theory is that either (a) Connie got the address wrong or (b) Phil moved down the street and didn't tell Connie. Either way, we will see a new-run strip coming up where Elly and Connie compare addresses and figure out what happened, preferably with a sticky-out tongue laugh and a bad pun. Connie gave Phil's pipe to a strange French woman, who didn't know who he was, and this also explains why the pipe kind of disappeared from the originally printed storyline when Connie meets Phil at the club. If that's the way this goes, then that wouldn't be bad work on the part of Lynn Johnston in covering her old errors.

BWA-HA-HA! You know Lynn is going to botch it. Be ready, FOOBar to help her out.

Heh--I hope you're right. This would be much better than Lynn refusing to look back at the old strips to check the address.
