Special Dental-Inventions Expo Edition

Before leaving for the convention John, in a new-run strip, listed checking out "new products and new inventions" among the things he was looking forward to doing at the convention he was going to be attending. Credit goes to forworse (here) and howtheduck (here) for inspiring today's strip. Oh, and there's also an eighties-music reference in there. :)

They already had lights that attach to chairs back in 1979 so John is kinda out of it; he's even out of it enough to not know immediately that he can turn to Jenny, Jenny, 867-5309. To be fair, he will figure that out; too bad for him, it'll probably five days after he gets back after Elly yells that she's through with motherhood for the third time that hour.

Thanks for using my suggestion. This is one of the best. You hit so many snarking targets. Actual laughing out loud over here in Arizona.

I like the little dentist chair poster in the first panel.

Thanks, Muzition--I picked up that image from a dental-expo photo I found when looking for reference pics for the strip. :)

Thanks for the left-handed toothbrush inclusion!

It took me a moment to decide that the dental chair wasn't from Little Shop of Horrors.

Speaking of horrors... :)

I'll bet she says that to all the dentists.

(And if you guess the song I'm referencing here, you know TOO MUCH MOR/Adult Contemporary for your own good. I just heard the song once, have had it stuck in my head for nearly twenty years...)
